According to the sky eye check information shows that the well-known athletic shoe brand Adidas recently filed a lawsuit in the federal court in eastern Texas, accusing Nike of infringing its patents on a number of shoe technology and mobile applications (APP).
According to the lawsuit, Nike's Run Club, Training Club and SNKRS mobile apps, as well as Adapt, a system that adjusts the fit of sneakers, infringe on nine patents related to motion monitoring, "smart shoe" systems and other technologies.
For Nike's patent infringement, Adidas demanded compensation for the corresponding loss.
This is not the first time the two giants have faced off in court. In December 2021, Nike filed a lawsuit in federal court in Oregon and the U.S. International Trade Commission, alleging that 49 Adidas shoes use PrimeKnit technology, which infringes on six Nike patents. Nike asked authorities to block the import of several Adidas sneakers, including a joint line with Stella McCartney and Pharrel Williams.
Both giants have recently seen their revenues and profits in the Chinese market decline. Adidas' sales in China in the first quarter of 2022 fell by nearly 35% to 2.85 billion yuan, a reduction of 400 million euros. Nike since the second quarter of 2021 began two consecutive quarters of domestic sales revenue decline, respectively, down 20% and 5%. In the three months ending February 28, 2022, Nike's Greater China business revenue fell 5% year-on-year, which has narrowed from its 24% year-on-year decline in the previous quarter.
