How to get the PCT international filing date and international application number?

A: If the electronic application is filed online, you can get the electronic receipt immediately after the successful submission of the application file, which contains the international application number, the date of receipt and the name of the applicant and other information. After the formal examination by the Receiving Office determines that the application is an international application, a notification letter will be issued to inform the international filing date and international application number.
In the case of a paper application or an electronic application filed by means of a CD-ROM, after the Receiving Office receives and acknowledges the document, it will issue a notification of receipt of the document, informing the applicant of the international application number, the date of receipt and the name of the applicant. When the Receiving Office determines that the application is an international application after formal examination, it will send a notification informing the applicant of the international filing date and the international application number.
Please note that the international filing date is determined on the basis of the date on which the receiving Office receives the application documents and all the requirements set forth in Article 11(1) of the Treaty are met. The date on which the applicant mails the application document is not relevant to the international filing date.
In order to ensure that the international filing date and the application number are available as soon as possible, it is recommended that the new application be filed by means of an electronic application, with accurate contact information for both the electronic and paper applications.
