Hu Wenhui, deputy director of the State Intellectual Property Office, introduced the situation of intellectual property-related work in 2022. Patents: 798,000 invention patents, 2.804 million utility model patents, and 721,000 design patents were authorized throughout the year. Accepted 74,000 PCT international patent applications. 63,000 patent review cases were concluded and 7,900 invalidation cases were concluded. Chinese applicants submitted 1,286 applications for international design registration through the Hague Agreement on the International Registration of Industrial Designs.

As of the end of 2022, the number of valid invention patents in my country is 4.212 million. Among them, the effective number of domestic (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) invention patents is 3.28 million. my country has 9.4 high-value invention patents per 10,000 people.

Trademarks: 6.177 million trademarks were registered throughout the year. Completed review of 169,000 trademark opposition cases. Completed 412,000 trademark review cases of various types. 5,827 applications for Madrid trademark international registration submitted by domestic applicants were received.

As of the end of 2022, the number of valid trademark registrations in my country was 42.672 million.

In terms of geographical indications: 5 geographical indication products were approved throughout the year. Approved the registration of 514 geographical indications as collective trademarks and certification trademarks. 6,373 market entities were approved to use special signs for geographical indications.

By the end of 2022, my country has approved a total of 2,495 geographical indication products, and approved 7,076 registrations of geographical indications as collective trademarks and certification marks.

In terms of integrated circuit layout design: 9,106 integrated circuit layout design certificates were issued throughout the year. As of the end of 2022, a total of 61,000 integrated circuit layout designs have been issued in my country.

In terms of intellectual property protection and application: 58,000 administrative cases of patent infringement disputes were handled throughout the year, 71,000 applications for rights protection assistance were processed, and 88,000 dispute mediation cases were accepted.

There were 28,000 patent and trademark pledge financing projects throughout the year. The total amount of pledge financing reached 486.88 billion yuan.

Effective invention patents have achieved both quantity and quality improvements. my country is the first country in the world with more than 3 million effective domestic invention patents, of which the number of high-value invention patents reached 1.324 million, a year-on-year increase of 24.2%, accounting for more than 40% of the effective number of invention patents. The latest "World Intellectual Property Indicators" report released by the World Intellectual Property Organization also shows that my country's effective number of invention patents ranks first in the world.

The innovation vitality of domestic enterprises continues to increase. As of the end of 2022, the number of domestic companies in my country with valid invention patents reached 355,000, an increase of 57,000 from the previous year, and there were 2.324 million valid invention patents, a year-on-year increase of 21.8%. Among them, high-tech enterprises and "little giant" enterprises that specialize in new technologies have 1.512 million valid invention patents, accounting for 65.1% of the total number owned by domestic enterprises, an increase of 0.5 percentage points from the same period last year.

Technological innovation in the digital field is becoming increasingly active. According to statistics from the 35 technical fields classified by the World Intellectual Property Organization, as of the end of 2022, my country's effective invention patents in digital technology fields such as information technology management and computer technology have grown the fastest, with year-on-year increases of 59.6% and 28.8% respectively. In 2022, the number of invention patent authorizations in my country's core industries of the digital economy will be 325,000, a year-on-year increase of 17.9%, and patent reserves continue to increase.

Intellectual property pledge financing benefits more small, medium and micro enterprises. In 2022, the amount of patent and trademark pledge financing exceeded 400 billion yuan for the first time, maintaining a growth rate of more than 40% for three consecutive years. It has benefited 26,000 companies, 70.5% of which are small, medium and micro enterprises, bringing "real money" to their response to the impact of the epidemic and stable and healthy development.

The number of foreign intellectual property rights in China has grown steadily. As of the end of 2022, the number of valid foreign invention patents in China reached 861,000, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%, involving 58,000 foreign companies, an increase of 2,000 from the previous year.
