In 2022, China handled more than 71,000 applications for assistance in safeguarding intellectual property rights

The State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) recently released a progress report on IPR protection assistance in 2022. The report pointed out that in 2022, the national intellectual property system actively implemented the deployment of intellectual property rights protection assistance in the "14th Five-Year Plan" National Intellectual Property Protection and Application Plan, constantly improved the working mechanism, improved the working system, standardized business development, expanded the strength of the team, and strengthened the basic conditions, and achieved remarkable results.
The report shows that the IPR protection assistance work mechanism has been continuously improved, and 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) have formulated relevant norms and guidelines for IPR protection assistance work, and strengthened the standardization and construction of work. Twenty-six provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) deepened cooperation with relevant departments to form a synergy for protection. In 2022, the total annual visits of the China IP Rights Protection Assistance Network reached more than 3 million times, an increase of 33.1% over the previous year. Solid progress has been made in the IPR protection assistance work. Nationwide, IPR protection assistance agencies handled more than 71,000 applications for IPR protection assistance, including 32,000 applications for IPR protection assistance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, provided more than 46,000 consulting and guidance services, organized more than 2,400 IPR public interest seminars and trainings, and provided 11,000 references for IPR infringement judgments. It provided intellectual property analysis and early warning for 618 times, and provided on-site and other rights protection assistance services for 309 times. Ipr protection assistance has been extended to the community level, and the strength of the team has been growing. By the end of 2022, there were more than 2,000 human rights protection assistance organizations in China, of which 28 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) had established a three-level system of assistance for human rights protection at the provincial, municipal and county levels, and 16 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) had realized the coverage of all human rights protection assistance organizations at the local and municipal levels.
