The Intellectual Property Development Research Center of the State Intellectual Property Office and the People's Property Insurance Company of China jointly released the White Paper on the Development of Intellectual Property Insurance in China (2022) on Tuesday. According to the white paper, by the end of 2022, China's intellectual property insurance has provided more than 110 billion yuan of risk protection for more than 46,000 patents, trademarks, geographical indications and integrated circuit layout-designs of more than 28,000 enterprises.

In 2011, China began to explore the promotion of patent insurance related work. Up to now, China's intellectual property insurance has covered patents, trademarks, Copyrights, geographical indications, integrated circuit layout design, new plant varieties and trade secrets and other types of intellectual property, covering all aspects of intellectual property creation, protection and application. We made positive progress in exploring intellectual property insurance.
First, the insurance product system has been continuously improved, and intellectual property insurance has formed a relatively complete product system of more than 40 products, including patent execution insurance, patent infringement liability insurance, patent pledge financing guarantee insurance, trademark infringement loss insurance, etc.
Second, the coverage continues to expand. By the end of 2022, more than 22 provinces and 99 cities have carried out intellectual property insurance business, and intellectual property management departments in Hubei, Shaanxi and Shandong have signed cooperation agreements with professional insurance institutions.
Third, insurance practice is increasingly abundant. In the market-oriented operation and development of intellectual property, intellectual property insurance has played a dual role of expanding financing channels and providing risk protection, accumulating many practical results and typical cases, which have great reference value for the development of intellectual property insurance in various regions.
