WIPO Global Awards:Contributing Chinese strength to global innovation development

　"So let me congratulate the win-ners of this year's awards,thank them for showcasing to other SMEs the power of IP..."On July 12,during the 65th WIPO Assemblies in Geneva,Switzerland,the 2024 WIPO Global Awards ceremony was held.Beijing Healinno Technology Co.,Ltd.(Healinno Tech),along with com-panies from Argentina,Kenya,Repub-lic of Korea,Kuwait,Singapore,Swit-zerland,Thailand,and Turkey,was se-lected from over 660 participants to receive the prestigious WIPO Global Awards.This marks the third consecu-tive year that Chinese SMEs have been recognized with this global award,manifesting their innovation strength and earning international rec-ognition and acclaim.

　　Global selection as a"wind vane"

　　"Globally,SMEs make up more than 90% of all businesses,but many of them are still not fully harnessing the power of IP to grow their busi-ness.This award however celebrates those that are doing so and demon-strates that IP is not just for business growth but can also make a positive difference to the world."said WIPO Director General Daren Tang at the awards ceremony.Since its establish-ment in 2022,the WIPO Global Awards have become a"wind vane"for observing the innovation and com-mercialization trends of SMEs world-wide.

　　This year's WIPO Global Awards received over 660 applications from 107 countries,covering fields such as creative industries,food,and the envi-ronment.After rigorous selection by the expert jury,nine companies,in-cluding AETECH and Healinno Tech,were honored with the award.

　　From waste-sorting robots to solar-powered equipment,from automated waterjet ablation surgical robots to 3D-printed bone replacements,and from quantum sensing microscopes to AI-driven brain injury scanners,this year's winning companies have dem-onstrated a range of innovative achievements in health,agri-food,and quantum technology,highlighting the critical role of IP in driving global economic and social progress and im-proving people's quality of life.

　　The ability to protect,manage,and utilize IP assets is a vital engine for the growth and expansion of SMEs.The winners of this year's WIPO Global Awards have accumulated ex-tensive experience in the field of IP.For example,Republic of Korea's AETECH uses its comprehensive IP portfolio to support its business expan-sion from Republic of Korea to Eu-rope,the Middle East,Australia,and Southeast Asia.Kuwait's ScansX le-verages its patents and trademarks globally through licensing agree-ments.These valuable experiences have helped the winning companies grow and scale in the fiercely compet-itive global market.

　　A Chinese enterprise shows innovation competitiveness

　　In this year's WIPO Global Awards,Healinno Tech,the only Chi-nese company to win,received wide-spread attention.Founded in 2021,Healinno Tech is a tech startup focus-ing on the research and development of surgical robots and intelligent diag-nostic and treatment equipment.

　　"We are deeply honored to receive this prestigious recognition from WIPO on behalf of Chinese innova-tive enterprises,"said Shi Yilun,Founder&CEO of Healinno Tech,at the awards ceremony.Healinno Tech is dedicated to bringing safer and more effective treatment options to the world.The company's high-ener-gy waterjet ablation surgical robot(waterjet surgical robot)helps sur-geons provide treatment for millions suffering from Benign Prostatic Hy-perplasia(BPH).

　　Healinno Tech's waterjet surgical robot has overcome several key core technologies,including multi-dimen-sional imaging real-time planning,multi-axis linkage automatic swirled cutting,high-energy non-thermal wa-terjet precise control,and multi-mod-al data global monitoring,achieving breakthroughs in the surgical treat-ment of BPH,which offers clinical ad-vantages.In December 2023,the Na-tional Medical Products Administra-tion approved this robot for the"green channel"of innovative medical devic-es.

　　"Being selected for the WIPO Global Awards is a tremendous recog-nition of Healinno Tech's technologi-cal innovation capabilities and IP work,"said Zhao Jing,COO of Healinno Tech,in an interview with our reporter.The company has always fo-cused on independent research and development as its core strategy and has conducted a comprehensive IP layout around its innovative achieve-ments,establishing a well-structured IP system that en-sures the close integration of IP work and R&D activities.As of date,the company has filed over 80 patent applica-tions worldwide,including 9 international patent applica-tions through the Patent Cooperation Treaty(PCT),with 36 patents grant-ed.It has also registered 28 trade-marks,providing effective IP protec-tion for their global market expansion.

　　Including Healinno Tech,five Chi-nese SMEs have successively won the WIPO Global Awards.As China grad-ually becomes a crucial part of the global innovation landscape,more and more SMEs with their indepen-dent IP achievements are shining on the world stage,showcasing the charm of"Chinese innovation"and continuously injecting vitality and vig-or into global innovation development.

　　“向今年的获奖企业表示祝贺，感谢它们向其他中小企业展示了知识产权的力量……”当地时间7月12日，世界知识产权组织（WIPO）第65届成员国大会期间，2024年 WIPO全球奖颁奖仪式在瑞士日内瓦举行。来自中国的北京智愈医疗科技有限公司（下称智愈医疗）与来自阿根廷、肯尼亚、韩国、科威特、新加坡、瑞士、泰国和土耳其的其他8家企业，从660多家参赛者中脱颖而出，成功获得 WIPO全球奖。中国中小企业连续3年在这一全球性奖项中榜上有名，彰显出其创新实力得到了国际充分认可和肯定。

　　全球遴选打造“风向标”

　　“在全球范围内，中小企业占所有企业的比例达90%以上，但其中许多企业仍未充分利用知识产权的力量来发展业务。本奖项旨在表彰那些正在采取这种做法的企业，并证明知识产权不仅能促进企业发展，还能给世界带来积极的变化。”正如WIPO总干事邓鸿森在颁奖仪式上所说，作为一项专门面向中小企业和初创企业的奖项，WIPO全球奖自2022年设立以来已经成为观察全球中小企业创新创造和知识产权商业化运用趋势的“风向标”。

　　今年的 WIPO全球奖共收到来自107个国家的660余份申请，涉及创意产业、食品、环境等多个领域。经过评委会专家组的严格评选，AETECH、智愈医疗等9家企业最终获得这一殊荣。

　　从垃圾分类机器人到太阳能供电设备，从水射流自主执行手术机器人到3D打印骨骼植入物，从利用量子传感技术的显微镜到人工智能驱动的脑损伤扫描仪，今年的获奖企业在健康、农业食品和量子技术等领域拥有的一系列创新成果，凸显了知识产权在推动全球经济社会进步、提高人们生活质量方面的重要潜力。

　　具备保护、管理和运用知识产权资产的能力是中小企业发展壮大的重要引擎。纵观今年的 WIPO全球奖，获奖企业均在知识产权领域积累了大量先进的经验：来自韩国的 AETECH利用丰富的知识产权组合支持其从韩国向欧洲、中东、澳大利亚和东南亚扩展业务；来自科威特的 ScansX在全球范围内通过许可协议利用其专利和商标……这些宝贵的经验帮助获奖企业在激烈的全球竞争中利用知识产权实现增长和扩大规模。

　　中国企业展现向“新”力

　　在今年的 WIPO全球奖中，智愈医疗作为唯一获奖的中国企业受到广泛关注。该公司成立于2021年，是一家专注于手术机器人和智能诊疗装备研发制造的科技新秀。

　　“我们非常荣幸能代表中国创新企业从 WIPO获得这一崇高荣誉。”智愈医疗创始人兼首席执行官史轶伦在 WIPO全球奖颁奖仪式上介绍，智愈医疗致力于为世界带来更安全、更有效的治疗选择，公司的高能水射流自主执行手术机器人（水刀手术机器人）助力外科医生为数百万名患有良性前列腺增生症的群体提供治疗。

　　据了解，智愈医疗自主研发的水刀手术机器人攻克了多维影像实时规划、多轴联动自动漩切、高能无热水射流精准控制、多模态数据全局监控等多项关键核心技术，带来了良性前列腺增生手术治疗的突破，具有一定临床优势。2023年12月，国家药品监督管理局批准该机器人进入创新医疗器械“绿色通道”。

　　“入选 WIPO全球奖是对智愈医疗技术创新能力和知识产权工作的巨大认可。”智愈医疗首席运营官赵静在接受本报记者采访时表示，公司一直将自主研发作为核心战略，并围绕创新成果进行了较为全面的知识产权布局，建立起较为完善的知识产权体系，推动知识产权工作和研发工作在良好互动下形成紧密配合。截至目前，公司已在全球范围内累计提交了80余件专利申请，其中，通过《专利合作条约》（PCT）途径提交了9件国际专利申请，36件专利已获得授权；申请注册了28件商标，为拓展全球市场提供了有效的知识产权保护。

　　据统计，包含智愈医疗在内，中国已有5家中小企业先后荣获 WIPO全球奖这一殊荣。随着中国逐渐成为世界创新版图的重要一极，越来越多的中小企业携带着知识产权成果精彩亮相世界舞台，尽展“中国智造”风采，为全球创新发展持续注入活力与生机。
