In recent years, artificial intelligence technology has developed rapidly, and the number of related patent applications has increased significantly. In order to help applicants better understand the patent examination standards and practices related to artificial intelligence, the State Intellectual Property Office and the Japan Patent Office jointly launched a patent review in the field of artificial intelligence. Review comparative studies of cases and formulate research reports.
The research report consists of two parts: examination rules and case studies. The examination rules section introduces in detail the examination standards of the two offices for the subject matter that can be granted patent rights, novelty and inventive step, as well as the full disclosure of the description and the claims being supported by the description. The case study section selects a total of 16 typical cases are used to compare and analyze the review processes and conclusions of the two bureaus.
