An Intel spokesman said it "strongly disagrees" with the ruling and plans to appeal, adding that the case is "one of many examples that demonstrate the urgent need for reform of the U.S. patent system."
VLSI's law firm declined to comment on the verdict.
In March 2021, VLSI won a nearly $2.2 billion verdict against Intel in a separate Texas trial over different chip patents, which Intel has appealed; the following month, VLSI won a separate trial against Intel in another Lost the relevant patent trial.
