Recently, the "Global Science and Technology Innovation Center Development Index 2022" was released, and Shenzhen ranked 12th in the global science and technology innovation center. According to the global ranking index of technological innovation source power, Shenzhen ranks fifth in the world and first in China. In terms of the number of highly cited papers published, Shenzhen, together with Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Wuhan, is among the top 30 universities in the world.

According to WIPO data, in the ranking of total applicants for PCT international patent applications in 2021, 7 Shenzhen companies ranked among the top 50. The "Global Science and Technology Innovation Center Development Index 2022" also shows that Tokyo's PCT patent volume exceeds 31,000, forming a leading position in the world, and Shenzhen ranks second with 20,143.
