Q: What are integrated circuits and integrated circuit layout designs?
A: Integrated circuit means a semiconductor integrated circuit, i.e., an intermediate or final product that uses semiconductor material as a substrate and integrates two or more components and some or all of the interconnecting circuits, at least one of which is an active component, into or on the substrate to perform some electronic function. Integrated circuit layout design means a three-dimensional configuration of at least two or more components and some or all of the interconnecting circuits in an integrated circuit in which at least one of the components is an active element, or a three-dimensional configuration of the foregoing prepared for the manufacture of an integrated circuit.
